Living Healthy, Living Life

Focus:
Promoting healthy lifestyles through exercise, smart food choices, education, and so much more. Healthy lifestyles are not just about being healthy physically, but also emotionally. This initiative can focus on emphasizing how one’s overall health can be improved with the right choices and simple necessities such as sleep and having a more structured and organized way of living organization. It will also be important to educate spread awareness to the community and our members about unhealthy illnesses and how to prevent them. The main goal of this choice will be to educate and assist children and adults to change unhealthy habits and replace them with a healthy lifestyle.

Service Project Possibilities:

  • Workshops
    • Circle K’ers can lead workshops focusing on promoting a healthy lifestyle. Possible topics could include: eating healthy, stress management, exercise, study skills, etc.

  • Care Packages
    • Clubs can collect items and assemble care packages to be donated. These can include food, clothes, towels, toiletries, etc.

  • Blanket Making

  • Walks/Runs

    • Step Out, Walk to Stop Diabetes, sponsored by the American Diabetes Association, aims to help raise awareness, promote healthy living, and raise money to fund educational outreach, advocacy efforts, and critical research that will ultimately stop diabetes once and for all .

    • Out of the Darkness Community Walk, sponsored by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, which aims to increase national awareness about depression and suicide, advocate for mental health issues, and assist survivors of suicide loss.

  • Coach/Volunteer for a Sports Team for Kids
    • In doing so, you can reinforce the benefits of exercise and staying healthy.

  • Volunteer in a Classroom

    • You can volunteer to read to kids at an elementary school about health, safety, etc.

Focus on the International Service Initiative (Focusing on the Future: Children): Working with the mentally challenged still provides opportunities for Circle K to help children, and many of the opportunities with this initiative have service events that specifically help children with developmental disabilities.
